Read With a Mini

Have you read to a miniature horse lately?

Come out to the barn to take advantage of our Mini Tales literacy program.  We have a wonderful selection of animal books that can be read to any of our animals.  While at the barn you will hug, walk, brush, read to and take LOTS of pictures with your favorite minis or other animals! We have FUN and FREE sessions available by appointment only.  Space is limited.  You must reserve your spot in advance.  No drop-ins please.  

**Ages 5 to 105.  Closed toed shoes are required to participate. **

Over the past 10 years, Indiana has faced a continued decline in student reading levels. Today, in Indiana, one in five third grade students cannot read. Central to helping more students learn to read is providing Indiana’s current and future educators with high-quality, evidence-based training aligned to science of reading. To support this, Indiana has secured the state’s largest-ever financial investment in literacy ($170 million), and today, thousands of educators are already tackling this challenge head on.

The mission of this program is to improve literacy, promote personal development, and encourage positive life choices. By providing these literacy promotion programs, we meet children where they are in their reading journey and encourage them to become a confident reader through the experience with the mini equines. The child builds confidence with an understanding listener, one who doesn’t criticize, one who encourages the child to continue to read with the outcome goal of improving their reading proficiency and achieving grade level fluency.
